Hello, all; it's very quiet in here, isn't it?I thought I'd join as I am Christian but my youngest sister converted to Islam some time ago. She and I have found that far from driving us apart, our respective faiths have brought us closer together due to the similarities between Christianity and Islam. There seem to be quite a few members here despite the lack of posts, so tell me - what brought you here? :-)
I'm a Quaker. I joined because I think dialogue, mutual respect, and support between Muslims and Christians is very important.
Interesting! My cousin's husband is Quaker. I love the Quaker ideology and when I was still Christian I really wanted to visit a Quaker church...unfortunately there were none around here. Were you born into it, or did you convert?
I am what's known as a "convinced" Quaker. We don't really convert. When you feel ready, you formally join a Meeting. Some people attend for years without joining, however, and are still considered Quakers. We don't hold much to formalities, I guess. :-)(I'm speaking on behalf of Unprogrammed Friends, btw. Programmed and Evangelical Friends are somewhat different in their traditions.)
